In March 2002, Potteiger-Raintree,
Inc. (PRI) completed the partial roof replacement project
of eleven (11) roof areas at the historic Virginia State
Supreme Court building located in Richmond, VA. PRI
traveled to Richmond to undertake this complicated roof
replacement project and to install a high quality roof
system on the 100' high, aged structure.
One unique aspect of this project
was the design firm had specified over one hundred (100)
different roofing and sheet metal details onjust 15,000
S.F. of roof area. The details were necessary to handle
many roof elevation changes, various sheet metal components
and the details associated with the current construction
and different roof deck types and slopes.
The project included the removal
of several existing low slope roof systems in these
areas, and the installation of a new modified bitumen
roof membrane set in cold adhesive. Several roof areas
required the installation of tapered roof insulation
also adhered in cold adhesive, while others required
the installation of flat roof insulation with mechanical
fasteners.
Major demolition work, hoisting of
materials and added to the challenge of performing this
work. During construction, continued operations of the
Virginia State Supreme building remained uninterrupted.
PRI completed the project ahead of
schedule and with high praise from representatives of
the Virginia State Supreme Court building and Commonwealth
of Virginia. Please see below some testimonials from
the project manager of the Commonwealth of Virginia
for this project.
